Buenos Aires – Der Reigen

Was hat mich geritten, in dieser Stadt der leuchtenden Buntheiten, dass ich der Farbe in diesen Bildern Auszeit gab oder zumindest sie zurückgenommen habe?

Die Fotos haben sich dabei auf eine eigentümliche Weise beruhigt. Die Konzentration auf Licht und Schatten und damit auf Raum und Textur macht für mich diese Entscheidung hilfreich.

Es war das, worauf es mir bei diesen Blickwinkeln und Ausschnitten ankam: die Entasis im Bogen der Gefäße, die Freude an den verschlungenen Bewegungen der Natur und der Tiefe im Raum, vom abwesenden bis hin zum endlos tiefen Schwarz.

Farbe erscheint mir in Buenos Aires als eine andere Angelegenheit. Sie strahlt von Freiheit (schwer erkämpft) und Patina.
|
Farbtöne überlagern sich, rücken näher aneinander, spielen und erlauben mir einen anderen Reigen zu sehen: warme, ruhende Erdtöne und schwingende Formen schmeicheln dem klaren Blau und lassen es noch mehr und breiter strahlen; es liegt so viel Freude darin… fliegen!

Buenos Aires – the Roundelay
|
In this City of vibrant hues, what possessed me to give the colour in these pictures time out, to reduce its emphasis?
In doing so, the images have become untrammelled by distraction, calm, the focus now on light and shadow and therefore space and texture. It was these things that were important to me in these angles and cropping: the entasis in the arc of the vessels, the pleasure in the intricate movements of nature and the depth in space, from the absent to the endlessly deep black. |
Colour seems to me to be a different matter in Buenos Aires. It radiates of freedom (hard-won) and patina.
Hues overlap, move closer together, play and allow me to see a different roundelay: warm, resting earth tones and swaying shapes flatter the clear blue and make it shine even more brightly; there is so much joy in it... flying! October 2022
